Here’s what I’m working on:
-
Project Pocketwatch
Sixty minutes is not enough time to save your kingdom.
The people of the Six Lands call them Turn-Born—the children born on the turning of the seasons. They possess mystical abilities. But these powers always come with a drawback.
Princess Vonna Auclair was born on Winter Turn. She possesses speed and strength, but only for one hour a day and she never knows in advance which hour it will be. All she wants is to use her powers to serve her kingdom and make her mother proud doing it. But as tensions rise between the Turn-Born and the rest of the population, things go awry.
Her overprotective mother assigns her a guard day and night. A budding romance complicates her emotions. A sinister Turn-Born dogs her steps as she quests for a powerful artifact. And a power-hungry queen marches toward her kingdom—capturing the Turn-Born to do her bidding. On top of all that, she battles her own bitterness over her hourly limitations.
Can Vonna stop the villain one hour at a time?

Project Emmett
Emmett Tate struggles with dyslexia and social anxiety. When he bombs the state reading test, he risks failing fifth grade altogether. Now he must face his social terror and find a partner for the final project (which just had to be a book presentation), while enduring relentless heckling from Nicholas Berg, the school bully.
When his neighbor, Mrs. Perdisco, gives him a wooden box that opens a portal to a magical place called the Land of Ela, Emmett’s adventures there, hunting down definitions of new words, give him just what he needs to overcome his school struggles. In the Land of Ela, he matches wits with a huge toad, navigates the booby-trapped cave of an artistic giant, meets a sentient leafy maze that gets him in trouble with an angry prince, and befriends the ruler of Ela’s realms.
But when a mysterious stranger named Mr. Decipi teams up with the school bully to steal the box, only Emmett can stop them. If he doesn’t, the realms of Ela will be destroyed. But to keep that from happening, he’ll have to give up the wooden box and his only way into the magical land. Can he face his social terror and complete the final project without it?

Project Jamilla
Jamilla DeCourt is one of the Turn-Born, those born on the turning of the seasons who possess mystical gifts. She has the ability to communicate with animals, but like all Turn-Born, her powers come with a drawback. They cause her to take on the mannerisms of the creatures she communicates with.
This doesn’t make it easy for her navigate social settings, especially now that her princess wants her to take on the role of diplomat and be part of the royal council.
An opportunity to test her diplomatic skills comes when members of a reclusive tribe ask for Jamilla’s help in communicating with a rare sea creature. What she learns from the sea creature leads her, along with her handsome guard Samuel, into an adventure involving a ring of brutal hunters, black market operations, and national secrets sold to the highest bidder.
Only Jamilla can get information directly from the creatures being exploited. Can she save both the animals and her nation?
